Wide cinematic illustration, 16:9, hand-inked storybook style with fine crosshatching, visible paper grain and loose watercolour washes, on warm cream paper.

A long winding road crosses one vast landscape from the lower left to the upper right, and the picture reads like a journey from night into dawn.

Two travellers stand at the crest in the upper right, seen from behind, looking out over a huge sunrise. One is a man in his working clothes, weary and steady. Beside him stands a tall anthropomorphic cat, his partner: tan spotted fur, dark salt-and-pepper beard, big white whiskers, a beige corduroy cap worn backwards, a navy zip hoodie, a pale blue striped shirt, blue mirrored sunglasses hanging from the collar, rolled khaki chinos, bare spotted paws, and a tail. The cat is looking up at the man rather than at the view. They stand shoulder to shoulder as equals, neither one leading.

The cat carries an enormous overstuffed satchel. Paper notes and index cards spill from it and trail behind them, and each one that lands becomes a small glowing paving stone. The entire road they walked is built from these stones, thousands of them, softly lit, so the road behind them is a line of warm light through the dark.

The lower left, where the road begins, is dark blue night and heavy rain. A small desk stands alone in the mud, a lamp still on, a laptop open, crumpled pages blown everywhere, the tangled wreck of a first attempt.

Midway along the road a violent storm has washed out one stretch. It has been rebuilt with visibly newer, brighter stones, stronger than the rest, and the scar in the land still shows.

Further along, stone towers stand on the hills, and thousands of paper-envelope birds pour out of them across the sky. Nearly all fly away and vanish into the distance. A small handful are flying back, glowing gold, and one is about to land in the man's raised hand.

Scattered through the valley are small signs of what was built: a lit house with a sold sign, a church steeple, a tiny way station with one distant figure keeping a lamp burning for them.

Hidden low in the rocks near the crest, easy to miss, a leopard lies still and watches them, its amber eyes catching the sunrise.

Colour moves from deep cold navy and slate on the left, through dusty blue and rose brushstrokes in the middle, to amber, gold and soft pink on the right. The mood is earned, quiet and tender, tired and proud. It is the feeling of having come a long way with someone who remembered every step.

No text, no words, no letters, no logos, no watermark. The cat must have one tail, two ears and five-fingered paws. Not cute, not cartoonish, not corporate, not sci-fi, no robots, no glowing circuitry.
